The Rent Tribunal is an impartial organization that helps tenants and landlords with disputes. They support tenants and landlords of free-sector housing, social housing, rooms and caravans. They also help tenants with temporary leases and support tenants’ organizations and residents’ committees.

The Rent Tribunal handles disputes about all kinds of issues. Usually it’s about rent increases, rent reductions or service costs. It also regularly deals with mediation costs and maintenance problems.

In 2019 the Rent Tribunal received almost 10,000 requests from tenants or landlords. Because of this rush, a procedure usually takes a few months.

For more information, visit the Rent Tribunal website or watch the video (in Dutch) below, in which the Rent Tribunal itself explains what they can do for tenants and landlords.
