Dear tenants,

We here at the Rent Support Centre Groningen are of course happy to help everyone, but the Rent Support Centre will be closed for a while from Friday 23 August, due to holidays.

Unfortunately, this means that the walk-in consultation hours on Wednesday 28 August and Wednesday 4 September will be cancelled. On these days, you will therefore not be able to walk in to discuss your case over a cup of coffee. This also means that the substantive handling of cases will be suspended for a fortnight.

From 9 September onwards, we will be back to advise and assist you as best we can. The next consultation hour will therefore be again on 9 September 2024. Hopefully we will see you again then, of course.

Apologies for the inconvenience, we hope for your understanding.

See you soon.

Warm regards,

Team Steunpunt Huren / Rent Support Center Groningen

What you need to know about the 2024 rent increase

Starting July 1st 2024, landlords are allowed to raise the basic-rent again. This means that most tenants will be sent a rent increase proposal around this time of year. As a tenant, how do you check if this is done according to the rules?

We regularly get questions at the Rent Support Centre about what you can do if the landlord has terminated the rental contract. Or about how to terminate the rental contract yourself. Are you or will you have to deal with this? Then read on quickly. In this article, we will discuss the legal rules on termination of the rental agreement.
